Ways to Mess Up a Project

Easy steps to Mess Up any project

Don’t bother prioritizing your organization’s overall project load.

Encourage sponsors and key stakeholders to take a passive role on the project team.

Set up on-going committees focusing on management process.

Interrupt team members relentlessly.

Half way through the project previously unnamed stakeholders and ask their opinions.

Encourage the sponsor to approve deliverables informally (with nods, smiles, winks).

Ensure project managers have lots of responsibility and deadlines but no authority.

Describe deliverables in vague terms, leaving plenty of leeway to reinvent them.

Get up and running fast – after all, we know what we’re doing and we trust each other.
